Worked example
A rarely used internal reporting app must be recoverable within 24 hours after a regional disaster, and leadership wants the lowest possible standby cost. Which DR approach is most appropriate?
- ABackup and restore from cross-region snapshotsCorrect
- BActive-active across two regions
- CWarm standby in a second region
- DPilot light with a running database replica
Why A
With a generous 24-hour RTO and cost as the priority, backup-and-restore keeps almost nothing running in the second region and simply rebuilds from replicated snapshots. Warm standby, pilot light, and active-active all keep resources running, raising cost needlessly.
